Unexpected Beauty

Last weekend, my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. As we both reflected on the year, one particular reflection we both had was it went so fast. It might be cliche, however so accurate to say "it feels like yesterday" we were getting married. In our first year of marriage, we both focused on our career very heavily, he worked through his first year of a doctoral program and I put every bit of energy into teaching. In further reflection on the highs and lows of our first year of marriage, I came to realize that I need to make slowing down a priority, paying special attention to the quickly fleeting moments in my life. While slowing down has many challenges and will often get pushed to the side in the hustle and bustle, there is a certain beauty to it. When I stop and notice the little details and sounds, it speaks to me.

It is my hope that you can feel, hear and see the specs of beauty in the tiny moments of life.
